LDP eyes 10 seats in GE

KEPAYAN: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is gearing up for the coming 13th general election and has submitted its list of candidates to Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

LDP president Datuk VK Liew said the list of about 20 names was submitted to the Prime Minister late last year.

Speaking to reporters after officiating at LDP’s central election operations room in Kepayan Perdana here yesterday, Liew said, “We have submitted our list of candidates to the Prime Minister who is the Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman late last year and there are no changes so far.

The Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said that LDP not only has many winnable but also ‘want to be’ candidates so the party’s leaders really have to assess to identify who are the willing and able candidates.

“This is very important to me because the next phase of political challenge for LDP will be different… the political landscape of the party will be bigger and we will be more significant in the administration of the government,” he said.

According to Liew, taking into consideration the six seats available after SAPP left BN and the current four held by LDP, the party’s leadership has submitted at least two names for each constituency.

The candidates include professionals and many qualified people who are fresh, young and eager to serve the state and country, he stressed.

Asked whether he would be defending the Sandakan parliamentary seat, Liew said, “I am the MP for Sandakan… Sandakan has been identified with me and vice versa, so when the time comes I will let you all know what will happen.

On the party’s relationship with Umno now, Liew said that what happened is now history.

“Now we are looking forward to ensure BN wins the 13th general election and we are working closely as a team to ensure BN wins,” he said.

Asked if LDP had also submitted the names of candidates for the Karamunting state constituency which is currently held by former party vice president Datuk Peter Pang, he said the seat belonged to LDP.

“He (Pang) was our candidate in 2008 and he left us in 2010. Can he take the seat away? That will be against the principle of BN,” Liew said, adding that by doing so Pang is paving the way for other BN component parties’ candidates to do the same in the future.

“This is not right as it would create chaos. I don’t think that is the agreed principle by the BN supreme council as we have the convention whereby if a person leaves the party, that individual should not have the right to take away that constituency.

“I would also like to suggest to the BN supreme council that if the person is a minister, he or she should also resign as a cabinet minister and leave it to the Chief Minister of the day to decide who is the appropriate person to fill in the vacancy.

“But the individual cannot take the seat and cabinet post together.

When it was pointed out to him that both Datuk Raymond Tan and Datuk Peter Pang had offered to resign from the state cabinet, Liew said that in Raymond’s case the scenario was different because he did not follow SAPP and instead remains with BN.

“In our case we did not leave BN, it was his (Pang) differences with the party leadership that resulted in him making such a decision,” Liew said.

When reminded that Pang remained in the state cabinet because Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman did not accept his resignation, said, “The Chief Minister has prerogative in this matter but it must be exercised in the interest of all the BN component parties…that is very important.?

LDP's Chin eyes Likas seat for BN

Kota Kinabalu, 5th February 2012: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has set its sight on the Likas State seat presently occupied by Sabah Progressive Party (SAPPp) which left Barisan Nasional (BN) after the March 2008 election.

A probable candidate is the party's Likas Division Chairman, Chin Shu Ying, 47, who is also LDP Youth Leader. The incumbent Likas Assemblyman is Datuk Liew Teck Chan.

It is understood that LDP President, Datuk V.K. Liew in lobbying for at least two additional seats (among the six seats left vacant by Sapp's withdrawal from BN, and other Opposition-held areas) has submitted a list of the party's potential candidates to the BN top leadership for consideration.

Chin, a civil engineer, indicated the party's keenness to contest in at least six seats, including the existing Sandakan parliamentary seat and three State seats - Karamunting, Tanjong Kapor and Merotai.

He said, at the end of the day, the final decision would be based on who is the winnable candidate in a particular area.

"And the Prime Minister will make that decision. Basically, the party will submit at least three names for each seat it is interested in, to the Prime Minister to consider.

"Like it or not, it is nothing wrong for one to make known one's intention to serve. I am interested to stand in Likas because I think I am well-positioned to serve the people and schools in the area.

"I have been living in Likas for quite some time and my parents' residence is also in Likas," he told reporters at the LDP Youth & Wanita Chinese New Year Appreciation Dinner with the Media at Hotel Promenade, here.

Given his elementary and secondary education at schools in Likas, Chin is well-acquainted with the area. And in the Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KKCCCI), he is in charge of kindergarten education and some Chinese stream primary schools. "Ideally, to be an elected representative will provide me with a bigger platform to serve and to pursue our dream, not my dream.

A dream that our children will inherit a better world from us."

Admittedly, serving the community is not alien to Chin as he has been serving in various capacities for the last 10 years.

"Not just within the party but also through participation in non-governmental organisations (NGOs). So it's nothing new to me," he said.

LDP Deputy President, Datuk Chin Su Phin graced the occasion together with Vice-President, Datuk Pang Yuk Ming who is also Assistant Minister of Infrastructure Development, Vice-President Lim Ming Hoo and other Supreme Council members. Also present were Wanita Chief Nancy Lim and Youth Secretary, Dexter Lim who was the Organising Chairman.

What Ghapur said is true – LDP

KOTA KINABALU: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has cautioned fellow Barisan Nasional (BN) component partners that the fundamental weakness in Gerakan will affect the ruling coalition’s chance in the coming general election.

Its publicity chief, Albert Kok, said it is widely accepted as fact that Gerakan had not recovered from the last general election in 2008 when the party lost heavily, including in its own soil in Penang.

“Replicating this is highly risky and are great agendas to be put forth by the opposition,” he said yesterday when commenting on a recent statement made by Kalabakan member of parliament Datuk Abdul Ghapur Salleh that Gerakan should not contest in Sabah in the coming general election because Gerakan has no winnable candidate and is not a winnable party.

Kok said BN component parties could not discount what Ghapur had said in Parliament a few days ago as there was truth in the latter’s statement.

“We must face the truth no matter how bitter it is. We have to take the bull by the horn and deal with the situation responsibly.

“Whilst it is important for BN to have a winnable candidate, it is equally vital that the winnable candidate must stand under a political party that is winnable to the mind, soul and heart of the people,” he added.

During the debate in Parliament on the Budget, Ghapur had urged Prime Minister Datuk Sri Najib Tun Razak, who is also the BN chairman, not to field Gerakan to contest in Sabah in the coming general election.

“It will be a crying shame if we do that. Gerakan has been uprooted in their home soil in Penang and it will have no relevancy and impact in Sabah. It will be further uprooted in Sabah as the voters, especially the Chinese, despise and do not welcome Gerakan in Sabah,” he said.

“PM talks about winnable candidate. We must also remember we must have a winnable," he said. 21 Oktober 2011.

Masyarakat Cina di Malaysia berkurang - Hock Seng

Masyarakat Cina di Malaysia semakin berkurangan, kata Presiden Persekutuan Persatuan Hokkien Malaysia, Tan Sri Tee Hock Seng.

Menurutnya, berdasarkan banci penduduk pada 2010, masyarakat Cina di Malaysia hanyalah 24.6 peratus daripada keseluruhan jumlah penduduk di Malaysia.

"Fenomena ini akan memberi kesan kepada masyarakat dalam pelbagai aspek termasuklah pendidikan, ekonomi, politik dan budaya," katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian pada sambutan kali ke-36 persatuan itu di Kota Kinabalu pada 2 September lalu.

Menurutnya, faktor itu mungkin disebabkan kos sara hidup kian meningkat sekaligus masyarakat Cina berkahwin lewat dan akhirnya kadar kelahiran menjadi rendah.

"Dalam hal ini, persatuan-persatuan Cina harus mencari jalan untuk meningkatkan kadar kelahiran di kalangan penduduk Cina.

"Persatuan boleh memberi subsidi untuk menggalakkan ahli-ahli mempunyai lebih banyak anak-anak," katanya lagi.

Parti Cina lebih utamakan Politik - Persatuan Hokkien Sabah

Persekutuan Persatuan Hokkien Sabah dan Labuan kesal dengan parti politik Sabah berteraskan masyarakat Cina yang terlalu berpolitik sehingga mengabaikan pembangunan ekonomi negeri.

Presidennya, Datuk (Major) Goh Tian Chuan, berkata, parti politik sepatutnya memfokuskan memajukan ekonomi bagi menarik lebih ramai pelabur asing ke di negeri itu.

"Parti politik Cina di Sabah hanya berjuang untuk kerusi dengan paparan berterusan di media.

"Seolah-olah pilihan raya akan diadakan esok. Semuanya sibuk berpolitik," katanya pada sambutan persatuan itu di Kota Kinabalu pada 2 September lalu.

Persekutuan Hokkien Persatuan Sabah dan Labuan terdiri daripada 22 persatuan.

Parti Politik Sabah yang majoritinya kaum Cina ketika ini termasuklah LDP, MCA dan Gerakan dalam BN, selain SAPP bekas sekutu BN dan DAP mewakili Pakatan Rakyat.

LDP yang merupakan sekutu tertua BN kini dikecam hebat sekutunya selepas menuntut semua kerusi milik SAPP yang meninggalkan BN diserahkan kepada mereka.

DAP pula mendesak SAPP segera menyertai Pakatan Rakyat jika bekas sekutu BN itu jujur mahu menumbangkan BN.

SAPP sehingga kini kekal dengan pendiriannya mahu bertanding 40 daripada 60 kerusi DUN.

Malah, sebelum ini, SAPP tutut meletakan calon dalam Pilihan Raya Kecil (PRK) Parlimen Batu Sapi.

Namun, calon SAPP iaitu presidennye sendiri, Yong Teck Lee malu besar apabila mendapat undi tercorot dalam saingan tiga penjuru.

SAPP sebelum itu berjanji mahu memberi laluan kepada KEADILAN untuk bertanding satu lawan satu namun mengesahkan pertandingan di saat saat akhir, sekaligus memudahkan BN menang di situ.

Our seats non-negotiable – LDP

SANDAKAN: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) will continue to contest in the Sandakan parliamentary seat and the four state constituencies of Karamunting, Merotai and Tanjung Kapor in the coming general election.

“It goes without saying that LDP will continue to contest in the four seats we contested in 2008. These seats are non-negotiable,” its president Datuk Liew Vui Keong declared yesterday.

On the six seats left ‘vacant’ following the pullout of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) from the Barisan Nasional (BN) in September 2008, the Sandakan Member of Parliament said: “We have no doubt LDP is the only local based party eligible to lay claim to these seats.

“However, it is best if we focus on dealing with issues confronting the people first and solve them to the best of our abilities.”

Earlier when speaking at the joint annual general meeting of LDP Tanjang Papat, Elopura, Karamunting, Sg Sibuga, Sekong and Gum-Gum divisions here, Liew saluted LDP members who resisted an attempt by a former leader to get them to leave the party as true heroes and heroines.

The Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said he is very proud of them for showing the spirit of LDP.

“Many of you have been with LDP for the last 21 years. Your loyalty to the party has made me very proud and the envy of many others.

“Despite recent attempt by someone, who left the party for his own personal glory… to entice our Sandakan members with promises and financial gains, many of you were not moved by such tactics, he said.

According to Liew, a member even claimed that the person called him on the phone to ask him and a group of them to leave with lots of financial promises but instead the member and many others scolded the person for being a traitor and slammed down the phone.

“This is the spirit of LDP that I together with the entire LDP is very proud of. You are the true heroes and heroines of LDP,” he said.

Liew urged the LDP members to start preparing for the 13th general election, saying that the AGM could be the last one before the election.

With the election looming closer, it is important for them to be ready not only in their preparation but also in dealing with the other Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties, he said.

“We must first ensure unity within our party and at the same time ensure unity within BN. It is important for us to be united together to fight the Opposition. We all are aware that a win for BN is a win for LDP. We must therefore ensure BN wins.

“It is important for us to produce quality winnable candidates in all the seats we will be contesting in GE-13. I therefore urge those aspirants to continue to show their qualities and abilities to be able to serve the people without fear and favor,” he said.

Liew also stressed on the importance to ensure that the candidate is supported and accepted by all walks of life as there is no point to be popular in party and able to win in party’s election but is not accepted by the people and then get rejected in an election.

“We must not fight yesterday’s war as it is already over. Our battle is tomorrow and to fight it, we must be prepared today. LDP must not linger on in the past. While we can use the past as a guide, we must be prepared today using today’s strategies for tomorrow’s battle. The battlefield has now changed and the mindset of the people is also changing,” he said. August 15, 2011, Monday

Race relations: Stop the rot – LDP

KOTA KINABALU: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) secretary-general Datuk Teo Chee Kang said the party is not opposing Barisan Nasional (BN) despite being viewed as the opposition party in BN.

He believed BN could accommodate different voices in its big family, as politicians should act and speak out of conscience.

Teo said the urban voter sentiment could be seen from the political tsunami in 2008 and the Sarawak state election several months ago.

He said voters in urban areas have higher educational level and political awareness, thus they are not worried about water supply, electricity supply, road and basic infrastructures.

“Their concerns are whether issues related to the people and country have been resolved, whether social justice is upheld,” he said at the LDP Api-Api-Luyang Joint Divisional Conference here yesterday.

Teo said the key to winning urban voters is to show greater sincerity and determination in tackling issues close to the people’s hearts.

He said the religious and racial issues in Malaysia have become more serious, in particular the ’1Bumiputra’ issue highlighted by Utusan Malaysia which runs counter to the 1Malaysia concept advocated by the Prime Minister.

He pointed out that the newspaper’s baseless report about the role of Christian leaders in turning Malaysia into a Christian nation with a Christian premier was clearly aimed at provoking religious discord.

Despite that, the newspaper has only received a warning letter from the Home Ministry without any action taken, he said.

As Utusan Malaysia is an Umno-controlled media, it is difficult not to think that it has the acquiescence from the government, Teo said.

He noted that the latest Merdeka Centre survey showed the people have less confidence in ethnic relations in the country.
“As of May this year, only 66 per cent of Malaysians rated ethnic relations as ‘good’, a drop by 12 per cent from 78 per cent in 2006,” he said.
In terms of racial unity, the survey found that ‘sincerity or friendliness’ among ethnic groups had decreased from 54 per cent in 2006 to 35 per cent this year, he added.

Hence, Teo said, the government should take stern action to correct the mistakes, and stop further damage to racial harmony caused by the political issues.

Teo said LDP should uphold the ‘People First’ concept, and win the people’s respect and support by serving the people selflessly.

He congratulated LDP deputy president cum Api-Api chairman Datuk Chin Su Phin on his appointment as a senator in June and being the third LDP member to be given the role after former president Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat and former Women chief Datuk Naomi Chong.

“This proves that even though our party risks being sidelined in the state, we still receive the respect and support from BN top leaders,” he said.

Meanwhile, Teo said power sharing and mutual respect advocated by BN were non-existent in Sabah.

He said the State Cabinet, government organizations and agencies should not act based on personal factors, but rather on power sharing according to the BN structure.

He said that following the 12th general election in March 2008, BN component parties who did win seats were not given mainstream seats in the State Cabinet, while those who did not win for BN were given trust by the government.August 15, 2011, Monday

Sekutu tertua BN didera

Sekutu tertua Barisan Nasional (BN) di Sabah, Parti Liberal Demokratik (LDP), terus didera termasuk didesak menyerahkan kerusi Dewan Undangan Negeri (Dun) Merotai yang diwakilinya sejak beberapa penggal lalu kepada Umno di negeri itu.

Perkara itu disuarakan Ketua Umno Bahagian Kalabakan, Datuk Abdul Ghapur Salleh buat kesekian kalinya.

Sebelum ini, LDP turut diserang sekutu BN di negeri itu termasuk MIC, Gerakan dan beberapa pemimpin Umno selepas Timbalan Presidennya, Datuk Chin Su Phin mengeluarkan kenyataan mengenai kejayaan Pakatan Rakyat mencatatkan keputusan memberangsangkan pada pilihanraya Sarawak, 16 April lalu.

Turut menyerang LDP ialah Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), sekutu utama BN di Sarawak melalui Exco pemudanya, Radin Kadri Radin Budiman dan Senator Sarawak, Datuk Idris Buang.

LDP sebelum ini turut kehilangan dua ADUNnya yang melompat menyertai Gerakan selain jawatan Timbalan Ketua Menteri (TKM) Sabah yang diwakilinya dirampas Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), yang juga sekutu BN di negeri itu.

Sabah memiliki tiga TKM dengan dua daripadanya kini dibolot PBS manakala satu lagi dikuasai Umno.

Sebelum ini, bekas Ketua Menteri Sabah yang juga pengasas LDP, Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat bersara dari politik selepas mendakwa disabotaj Pengerusi Umno BN Sabah ketika ini, Datuk Musa Aman.

LDP ditubuhkan pada 1989 dan paling awal menyertai BN di Sabah berbanding Umno yang hanya memasuki Sabah selepas pembubaran parti Usno pada 1991.

Wahai LDP setialah engkau bersama BN

Sekutu tertua BN Sabah, Parti Liberal Demokratik (LDP) buat hal lagi (Baca: lakonan menjelang PRU).

Parti itu antara lain dikaitkan akan meninggalkan rejim BN di Sabah.

Namun, saya berpandangan agar aprti itu kekal dan setialah bersama BN. Janganlah engkau seperti Parti Maju Sabah (SAPP), apabila keluar BN, enggan pula bersama dalam Pakatan Rakyat serta angkuh pula mahu bertanding 48 dari 60 kerusi Dun di Sabah dan selebihnya hanyalah ditinggalkan untuk PKR, PAS dan DAP.

Bila keadaan itu berlaku, maka semakin sukarlah PR untuk menawan Sabah dan semakin bertambah susahlah lagi rakyat Sabah pada masa akan datang yang terus dihimpit kemiskinan, prasarana pendidikan dan luar bandar selain pengangguran dan jenayah yang kian parah di era pemerintahan BN.

Ini kerana tindakan SAPP sekaligus bakal menjadikan saingan tiga penjuru pada Pilihan Raya Umum (PRU) akan datang.

Apa jadi jika LDP meninggalkan BN? Maka mereka akan menuntut kerusi sekarang milik mereka dan seterusnya menyukarkan lagi agihan kerusi PR di Sabah.

Jika LDP kekal bersama BN, parti itu akan terus melambakkan masalah dalam rejim BN seterusnya mempercepatkan kejatuhan rejim itu di Sabah.

Untuk rekod, kerusi yang ditandingi oleh kesemua calon LDP bolehlah dianggap tidak selamat bagi mereka menjelang PRU akan datang.

Kerusi tersebut antaranya ialah Dun Merotai yang sejak sekian lama mahu dirampas oleh Umno di kawasan itu.

Sejak Disember tahun lalu, Umno sudah pun melakukan bancian di kawasan itu dengan upah pembanci yang cukup lumayan berkaitan kehendak pengundi di kawasan itu.

Antara yang boleh saya dedahkan di sini ialah pengundi majoriti tidak kenal wakil rakyat mereka malah ada di antara pengundi atau penduduk di kawasan Merotai, Pasir Putih dan Taman Semarak secara terbuka menyatakan kepada pembanci tersebut bahawa wakil rakyat LDP sejak dahulu lagi tidak pernah turun dan berdailog dengan mereka.

Secara asasnya ada yang lebih menyenangi bekas Adun terdahulu, Datuk Liew Yun Fah berbanding wakil rakyat sekarang.

Merotai sebelum ini diwakili Umno sebelum dirampas oleh LDP sejak dua penggal lalu.

Merotai juga sejak dahulu lagi antara kawasan yang berpeluang cerah di tawan oleh Pakatan Rakyat melalui PAS.

Pada PRU lalu, PAS mencalonkan Pesuruhjaya di kawasan itu dan BN hanya menang 242 undi sahaja.

Satu lagi kerusi ialah bagi Dun Tanjung Kapor.

Kerusi ini sejak dahulu lagi milik LDP dan sentiasa menjadi kerusi panas sejak puluhan tahun lalu.

Faktor kemenangan LDP di kawasan ini banyak bergantung kepada perpecahan undi pembangkang.

Seingat penulis antara lima hingga lapan penjuru kerap berlaku bagi Dun ini sejak puluhan tahun lalu yang suatu ketika dahulu di wakili oleh bekas Ketua Menteri Sabah, yang juga bekas Presiden LDP, Datuk Chong Kah Kiat.

Chong juga bersara dari politik selepas berperang dengan Pengerusi Umno Sabah ketika ini, Musa Aman khususnya berhubung Patung Ma Tzu.

Satu lagi kerusi LDP ialah Parlimen di Sandakan. Pada PRU lalu, Presidennya, Datuk V K Liew hanya menang tipis iaitu 176 undi dan Parlimen itu pernah di tawan oleh calon Bebas pada PRU 2004.

Tambahan pula, kemenangan LDP/BN pada PRU lalu akibat tiadanya kesepakatan antara calon dari parti pembangkang di Sabah.

Dalam erti kata lain, LDP menimbulkan isu dan ugutan untuk keluar parti hanyalah bertujuan menyelematkan sekutu BN paling tua itu di Sabah.

Strategi sama yang kini digunakan oleh SUPP di Sarawak ketika ini yang mahu meninggalkan BN jika Taib Mahmud enggan berundur sebelum pilihanraya negeri akan datang.

Untuk rekod, SUPP di Sarawak juga merupakan sekutu tertua BN di negeri itu.

SUPP juga satu-satunya sekutu BN Sarawak yang sehingga kini tidak mengeluarkan kenyataan berhubung persaraan Taib Mahmud.

Sekiranya LDP meninggalkan BN, ia akan menggembirakan sekutu mereka dari parti berasaskan Cina seperti MCA, Gerakan dan juga parti saigganya yang lain seperti PBS yang akan menuntut kerusi yang mereka tandingi sekarang.

Presiden MCA, Chua Soi Lek, mialnya, semasa kunjungannya di Sabah baru-baru ini mahu parti itu diberi tambahan kerusi pada PRU akan datang yang difahamkan antara kerusi sasaran mereka ialah Dun dan Parlimen yang ditinggalkan SAPP.

Perlu kita fahami, kawasan majoriti Cina di seluruh negara kini boleh dikatakan tidak selamat buat BN dan jika kerusi yang tidak selamat ini pun berlakunya pertembungan lebih tiga penjuru antara BN, PR, SAPP, LDP, parti-parti kecil dan calon bebas, maka makin mudahlah BN untuk menang di Sabah kerana undi untuk Pakatan Rakyat akan berpecah dan mengecil.

Sehubungan itu, LDP wajar kekal dalam BN dan berterusanlah membuat kacau walaupun kamu sebenarnya hanyalah melakukan opera Cina menjelang PRU akan datang.

Kisah Benar Krisis LDP dan Musa Aman

BETULKAH MUSA AMAN MENGHINA PARTI LDP DI SABAH!!??

Saya telah berjanji untuk mendapatkan pandangan LDP. Kali ini saya berikan versi LDP daripada kenyataan YB Datuk Teo Chee Kang, ADUN Tanjung Kapor, Ahli Majlis Tertinggi LDP yang turut hadir dalam mesyuarat BN pada 24 Ogos 2010 lalu.

Menurut Teo, parti LDP tidak membangkitkan isu patung dewa Mazu.

Apa yang dibangkitkan wakil LDP dalam mesyuarat BN itu ialah berkenaan projek pembangunan di Sabah secara umum yang perlu mendapat kelulusan awal daripada Lembaga Pusat, Central Board (CB)*.

Isu tersebut menurut LDP melibatkan kepentingan rakyat dan negeri Sabah.

Sebelum April 2008, semua pembangunan tidak perlu dapat kelulusan CB kecuali membabitkan perubahan zoning.

Hari ini semua projek pembangunan, sedang atau telah siap, termasuk pembinaan rumah di tanah persendirian perlu kelulusan CB.

Dalam hujah pembelaan, ketika perbicaraan kes Mazu di mahkamah tinggi, kerajaan negeri jadikan alasan kegagalan mendapat kelulusan awal CB sebagai hujah membatalkan pembinaan patung dewa di Kudat.

Dalam hubungan itu, Pengerusi BN Sabah, Datuk Seri Musa Aman, yang tahu hubungan kes Mazu dengan isu yang dibangkitkan, secara tiba-tiba mengarahkan wakil LDP Datuk Chin Su Phin berhenti bercakap.

Parti LDP menganggap perbuatan Musa Aman tidak wajar kerana tidak menghormati pandangan dan kedudukan LDP sebagai anggota komponen BN negeri.

LDP sesungguhnya menganggap tindakan Musa Aman sebagai satu penghinaan kepada pemimpin LDP terutama bila satu lagi isu yang dibangkitkan Datuk Teo juga tidak dibenarkan untuk dibincangkan. Musa anggap isu yang dibawa Teo merupakan isu tempatan bukan isu negeri dan rakyat Sabah secara umum.

ADUN Tanjung Kapor itu membawa isu pemecatan 8 Ketua Kampong (KK) oleh Ketua Daerah Kudat (dipil;ih UMNO) tanpa merujuk kepadanya sebagai wakil rakyat.

Secara praktisnya, perlantikan dan pemecatan jawatan KK adalah bidang kuasa wakil rakyat kecuali wakil rakyat dari parti pembangkang.

Teo berhujah, isu yang dibangkit bukan isu tempatan kerana fenomena itu berlaku ditempat-tempat lain membabitkan semua wakil rakyat di seluruh Sabah terutama YB dari parti komponen BN.

Teo juga dedahkan dengan bukti CD kejadian "tikam belakang" oleh Ketua Daerah Kudat (UMNO) yang sabotaj LDP pada pilihan raya 2008.

Kedua-dua isu itu pada pandangan LDP adalah isu yang membabitkan kepentingan rakyat Sabah kerana ianya berlaku bukan sahaja terjadi di Kudat tetapi di lain-lain kawasan.

Perbuatan Musa Aman menolak dan menempelak pemimpin LDP dalam mesyuarat BN amatlah tidak wajar pada pandangan LDP.

Maka itu, menurut Teo, ada kewajarannya Timbalan Presiden LDP mengeluarkan kenyataan parti itu enggan berkerjasama dengan Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

Kenyataan itu mendapat sokongan sepenuhnya daripada pucuk pimpinan LDP negeri Sabah.

Semalam rakan-rakan minta saya komen kenyataan akhbar menggemparkan Timbalan Presiden Parti Liberal Demokrat (LDP) yang disiarkan dalam sebuah akhbar di Kota Kinabalu (Khamis). Dalam kenyataannya, Datuk Chin Su Phin berkata, ia sanggup berkerjasama dengan Umno tetapi tidak dengan Ketua Menteri Sabah, Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

Umum melihat kenyataan akhbar Timbalan Presiden LDP itu sebagai kenyataan yang mencabar kewibawaan Ketua Menteri Sabah, atau ayat politiknya, “menempelak” pengerusi BN Sabah!! Chin Su Phin menegaskan, parti LDP tidak bermasalah dengan UMNO dan pimpinan negara, katanya,“Kami juga menyokong penuh Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak dan visi 1Malaysianya”.

Apakah punca sebenar sehingga tercetusnya perang terbuka antara LDP dengan Musa Aman?

Apakah impak politiknya kepada BN Sabah yang dianggap sebagai fixed deposit dalam PRU akan datang?

Pada mulanya saya enggan memberi sebarang ulasan kerana saya tidak tahu apakah isu yang mencetuskan kenyataan akhbar itu.

Sudah tentu saya bersikap tidak adil kepada pihak yang terlibat jika saya menulis berdasarkan andaian semata-mata walaupun saya tahu latar belakang persengkitaan antara bekas Presiden LDP Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat dengan Musa Aman berhubung dengan isu Mazu.

Pada saya, tidak mungkin isu Mazu menjadi punca pertelingkahan kali ini. Saya jangkakan ada isu lain yang lebih mustahak.

Barangkali ada isu yang mendesak dan membabitkan kepentingan rakyat Sabah sehingga tercetusnya kenyataan sedemekian. Tak mungkin isu Mazu lagi kerana TS Chong Kah Kiat telah bersara! Dalam masa yang sama mahkamah telah membuat keputusan yang memihak kepada kerajaan negeri Sabah.

Secara kebetulan malam ini saya berpeluang mendapat cerita sebenar daripada Datuk Rahman Dahlan, MP Kota Belud yang juga Setiusaha Barisan Nasional negeri Sabah.

Saya baru balik dari Chow Kit. Pada ketika itu Rahman, Azman (Ketua Pemuda UMNO Sabah) dan Mohd Joh (KP UMNO Sepanggar) sedang minum di coffe house.

Di sebelah kawasan tidak merokok, kelihatan Datuk Musa Aman, Tan Sri Bernard Dompok dan beberapa orang lagi. Awal tadi, Musa host majlis berbuka puasa dengan pelajar-pelajar Sabah anjuran Yayasan Sabah.

“Okay, you can quote me on this” Kata Rahman, bila saya tanya mengenai kenyataan akhbar LDP. Menurutnya, LDP tidak diwakili Presidennya Datuk V.K Liew tetapi parti itu menghantar tiga wakil yang diketua Datuk Chin Su Phin.

"Mungkinkah ini pandangan peribadi Datuk Chin bukan LDP kerana V. K Liew berada di luar negara?" Saya minta kepastian.

Menurut Rahman, dalam kenyataan akhbarnya, Timbalan Presiden itu berkata, mereka akan memaklumkan kepada Presiden LDP

“Mesyuarat BN Selasa lepas diadakan atas desakan parti-parti komponen BN berhubung dengan beberapa isu mendesak seperti isu PTI, isu pembahagian jawatan dan beberapa isu lain.

Walaupun bulan puasa, kita adakan juga sebagai menghormati rakan-rakan kita dalam BN.”

Menurut Rahman, Datuk Musa berucap pendek sahaja, barangkali dua minit dengan mengalu-alu kehadiran dan mengucapkan terima kasih kepada semua pemimpin BN Sabah. Beliau kemudiannya menjemput setiap ketua-ketua parti memberi pandangan.

“Datuk Chin Su Phin adalah orang pertama yang bercakap dan membangkitkan isu Dewa Mazu. Datuk Musa beritahu Chin, dia boleh berdebat mengenai isu Mazu tetapi mesyuarat BN kali ini bukan secara khusus membincang isu tersebut kerana banyak isu-isu lain yang lebih penting dan meminta Chin jangan memanjangkan isu berkenaan. Bagaimanapun pemimpin LDP itu tetap berdegil dan terus juga bangkitkannya .” Jelas Rahman.

Pada satu ketika, Datuk Musa Aman meminta pandangan pemimpin BN lain samada isu tersebut perlu dibincang atau tidak.

Majoriti setuju agar isu Mazu yang dianggap “selesai” tidak dibincang dalam mesyuarat BN kerana masing-masing membawa isu yang perlu ditangani dalam mesyuarat kali ini.

Malangnya, menurut Rahman, pemimpin LDP itu tidak berpuas hati dan meninggalkan mesyuarat sewaktu Musa Aman mengadakan sidang akhbar.

Saya akan meminta pandangan Datuk Chin Phin selepas ini. Selamat Berpuasa.

DCM studies requests from Chinese community

KOTA KINABALU: It is all homework for Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Peter Pang En Yin as he studies proposals and requests from the Chinese community leaders here.

He said there have been a number of requests, such as on education, but Pang, who is also the Youth and Sports Minister, said: “All must be studied thoroughly before I make a decision.”

Asked on the request to set up a Chinese primary school in the state capital, he stressed that he was doing his homework on the matter.

“I know about it. I am already doing my homework, I am also discussing the matter with other leaders to find out whether there is a need for the request.

“It is important for me to study the situation first before taking it to the higher authorities … I will see how to deal with this,” he told reporters after attending luncheon with the Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chambers and Industries (KKCCI) and the United Sabah Chinese Chambers and Industries (USCCI) yesterday.

He added that his immediate agenda includes creating closer rapport with all Chinese community leaders, adding: “This is to better understand their needs.”

Meanwhile, KKCCI president Datuk Sari Nuar said he hopes Pang would be able to fulfill their requests and continue to work closely with Chinese community leaders in the interest of their people.

“Being the deputy chief minister is not easy, it comes with heavy responsibilities …I hope he (Pang) will work hard for the good of the people, especially the Chinese community,” he said.

Sari, however, expressed hope that civil servants would be able to improve their services.

“It is sad especially when a minister is working really hard to help the people, but the level of services provided by the government staff is low and unsatisfactory, it should come together,” he said.

He added that state civil servants should emulate the services provided by federal government staff such as at the Immigration Department and Inland Revenue Board, describing them as ‘very efficient’.
