Sijil Adun tunggal PR dibatal

KOTA KINABALU: Lem- baga Pegawai yang dilantik oleh Yang Dipertua Negeri telah mengemukakan pera- kuan kepada Mahkamah Anak Negeri Kota Kinabalu bagi melaksanakan keputusan membatalkan Sijil Anak Negeri Anggota Dewan Undangan Negeri (Adun) Sri Tanjong, Jimmy Wong.

Jimmy yang juga Pengerusi DAP Sabah merupakan satu-satunya Adun tunggal Pakaran Rakyat di negeri itu.

Menteri Kerajaan Tempatan dan Perumahan Datuk Hajiji Haji Noor, berkata ahli lembaga yang dilantik itu telah membuat penyiasatan, penelitian dan perakuan untuk membatalkan Sijil Anak Negeri itu berdasarkan sebab-sebab berikut:

“Maklumat keturunan yang dituntut oleh Jimmy sebagai Sino Kadazan adalah bercanggah dengan salasilah keturunan Jimmy sebenar. Di mana tidak setitik pun darah keturunan Kadazan mengalir dalam tubuh Jimmy kerana kedua ibu bapanya adalah keturunan Cina, sebagaimana dicatatkan dalam sijil lahirnya.

“Atas sebab itu Lemba- ga Pegawai mendapati Jimmy tidak memenuhi Seksyen 2 (1) Ordinan Tafsiran Anak Negeri (Bab 64).

“Keputusan Lembaga Pegawai ini telah pun dikemuka- kan kepada Mahkamah Anak Negeri Daerah Kota Kinabalu untuk melaksanakan keputusan membatalkan Sijil Anak Negeri Jimmy,” katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian ketika menyampaikan ucapan penggulungan kementeriannya pada persidangan dewan undangan negeri di Dewan Undangan Negeri, di sini, kelmarin.

Bagaimanapun Hajiji ber- kata, pengwujudan Mahkamah Anak Negeri Daerah Kota Kinabalu baru sahaja diwartakan pada Disember 2011, maka keputusan lembaga pegawai itu hanya akan dapat dilaksanakan dalam masa terdekat.

Berkenaan dengan cadangan Adun Balung agar kemen- terian mengekalkan dasar 30 peratus rumah mampu milik bagi setiap projek perumahan swasta, beliau berkata: “Saya telah mengkaji dan sedang men- yediakan kertas cadangan kepada kerajaan dengan mengambil kira pandangan daripada Unit Perancang Ekonomi dengan (UPEN) dan Sabah Housing Real Estate Development Association (SHAREDA) supaya setiap pembangunan perumahan swasta diperuntukkan 30 peratus rumah mampu milik.

“Sekiranya diluluskan oleh kerajaan, dasar ini akan memberi peluang kepada golongan berpendapatan rendah dan sederhana memiliki rumah di kawasan yang dimajukan oleh pemaju swasta di kawasan bandar kelak,” katanya.

DAP Sabah urges PKR to gear up seat negotiation talk

KOTA KINABALU: DAP Sabah has called on the new Sabah PKR leadership to immediately take over from the previous leadership on the matter of seat negotiations.

DAP Sabah publicity secretary Chan Foong Hin yesterday said the new Sabah PKR leadership led by Ahmad Thamrin Mohd Jaini who has been re-appointed as the party’s new state chief, should honor the outcome of previous seat negotiation talks.

Welcoming the new leadership transition of Sabah PKR, Chong said DAP Sabah hoped that this would be the last round of reshuffle of Sabah PKR leadership before the 13th General Election which is expected to be held within six months from now.

He said it is crucial to have a proper line-up of Pakatan Rakyat machinery to face the general election.

“The new Sabah PKR leadership should honor the outcome of previous seat negotiation talks.

"We should gear up the progress to settle the remaining overlapping seats, and hopefully the final round of seat talk can be accomplished before the end of this month,” he said in a statement.

“Equality principle is the utmost principle which should be uphold by every component party of Pakatan Rakyat. The spirit of ‘no one should be bigger than anyone’ should be adopted in seat negotiation. Sabah DAP would like to call to impose a presidential condition of ‘ceiling seats’ in order to reflect the equality principle,” he said.

Under the ‘ceiling seats’ condition of president, Chan said any component party in Pakatan Rakyat should not contest more than 12 of the 25 parliamentary seats and 25 of 60 State Assembly seats in Sabah.

“This is the best machanism to prevent any component party to be dominant in the alliance and with that we can distance away from the Barisan Nasional style of partnership – only Umno can make decision afterall they control 32 seats in the state assembly,” he said.

Chan added Sabah DAP still stick to the decision of non co-operation with Sabah Progressive Party and other local parties, “unless they recognize Pakatan Rakyat’s equality principle and join us without any preset condition which only protects their self interest”.

“Sabah Pakatan Rakyat still open the door for any local political party which is interested to join us by abiding with the Pakatan Rakyat Sabah secretariat’s terms of reference,” he added.18 Oktober 2011

Kit Siang: Cease acrimony against SAPP

PENAMPANG: DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang reminded party leaders in Sabah to cease their acrimonious war of words against Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).

Lim said they should instead focus on strengthening the party and the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition to gain victory over Barisan Nasional (BN) in the coming general election.

Speaking at the Sabah DAP annual delegates congress here yesterday, Lim pointed out that the next election will not be about DAP against SAPP, but DAP and PR against Umno and BN.

“My advice to Sabah DAP leaders is that we have to end the acrimony and to focus on DAP/PR’s fight against Umno/BN,” he said.

On the issue of the allocation of seats for the coming election, Lim expressed hope that PR in Sabah will be able to formulate a common policy on the matter.

According to him, he was made to understand that there have been very advanced discussions and negotiations on seat allocations.

“Because there was a change in the Sabah PKR leadership, we have to await for further communication.

“What has been decided and negotiated within the Sabah PR was conducted when Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was the chairperson and I therefore believe there will be a basis for us to reach a consensus.

“And we hope that PR Sabah will be ready to take on BN on a one-to-one fight and to ensure we will capture at least one third of the parliamentary seats in Sabah to be on the way to Putrajaya to bring about changes not only in Malaysia but in Sabah as well,” Lim said.

Meanwhile, Sabah DAP chief Jimmy Wong said that they will abide by Lim’s advice and will enforce a ‘cease-fire’ for the time being.23 Oktober 2011.

Kota Kinabalu: DAP Sabah has called for the resignation of Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili as MP for Kota Marudu for having "failed miserably not only his people, but also his party and the Barisan Nasional (BN) government".

DAP Sabah Chief Jimmy Wong said the remarks by Dr Maximus concerning the plight of widow Rosnia @ Annie Maramal and her three children who are residing in Kg Kandawayon, Matunggung, in his constituency, were astonishing.

He said the family's case caused the Prime Minister's wife Datuk Rosmah Mansur to pass around the hat and collect RM2,500. Rosnia and her kids had been staying in a dilapidated shack the past three years.

Wong said Dr Maximus' dare to the opposition to build new homes for other hardcore poor households in his constituency was "unbecoming of a very intelligent, highly educated and long-serving politician who is also currently the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation".

Wong said Dr Maximus had bragged about the few houses he built and repaired in his constituency. "His confession of inadequate funding to assist all the hardcore poor in Kota Marudu is most welcome as the people can now see for themselves that BN has no money to develop Sabah.

"We have been asked to show proof that the government has no money and here it comes. We must now ask where are the billions of ringgit in allocation that the Chief Minister kept on harping in the press."

Wong said it was now apt for Musa to request from the Federal Government 20 per cent for oil royalty so that Sabah will have constant and uninterrupted funding.

DAP Sabah also asked Dr Maximus who spent too much time in Kuala Lumpur to at least visit Penang and learn how the DAP-Pakatan Rakyat government is tackling the problem of poverty.

"Just under three years after assuming power, the Penang government has eradicated poverty. With the knowledge gained in Penang, he can easily resolve the poverty problem in his areas as well as the reported 45,162 poor households in a few months.

"We assure Dr Maximus that once Pakatan Rakyat forms the government in Sabah this problem of poverty will be resolved quickly," he said.

Meanwhile, a veteran political activist, Fredoline Edwin Lojingki, said the way Dr Maximus responded to the issue was unacceptable.

"Maximus is sore at problems being exposed in his constituency.

And Maximus is displaying maximum arrogance by challenging an opposition leader to build even more houses for the poor in Kota Marudu.

"As a veteran of 70 years, Maximus is failing the supporters of PBS as well as Barisan Nasional. Only an arrogant person or leader that would not need a good Public Relations way of tackling sensitive issue like this," he said in a statement.

"Did Maximus remember how many houses he and PBS built when they were in opposition?

Is Maximus telling the rakyat jelata that it was his own money and not the people's money that he spent to build the 90 houses?

"I'm quite sure Christina Liew used her own money or perhaps her friends when she helped the poor Marambal family in Matunggong," he said.

"He should build 10,000 houses or even more for the poor families in Sabah alone," he said, adding are were many more Marambals throughout Sabaht.

"We have the opposition and the media to thank for exposing problem like the one in Matunggong which is of course just the tip of the iceberg," he said.

Flyover: Work at standstill, insists DAP

Kota Kinabalu: The Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) runway extension and the Tanjung Aru flyover projects may face another setback on the eventual completion date, the opposition DAP predicts.

Its Kota Kinabalu MP, Dr Hiew King Cheu, said the two mega projects are showing only little sign of work progress and closer to stop-work.

He claimed there was no work progress the past one year and all heavy machinery remain idle. "To date, work on both the job sites are at total stand still with only a handful of workers lingering around.

"The two projects should be in full swing now. At this rate, the contractor will never meet the date of completion," he said.

On Dec. 14, Dr. Hiew asked Transport Deputy Minister Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri in Parliament pertaining to both projects. Abdul Rahim replied that some technical details and land matters were holding up the progress.

Dr Hiew described the answer as unsatisfactory, saying there was no reason for work to be held up for so long until there was near zero progress.

"The two contracts were awarded to the same contractor.

"Is the contractor at fault and if so, what action is the Government going to take to ensure the contractor executes the job in accordance with the contract terms and conditions?

"The delay on both two projects caused much concern and inconvenience to the public.

The Government should tell the truth what is really happening.

"It is the people's money that the Government is spending and we have the right to know," he said.

IMAM SERTAI DAP ???

Opposition Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sabah will be forming more Bumiputera branches in the State soon.

Its chief, Dr Hiew King Cheu, said in a statement that the branches include Kota Belud, Tenom, Ranau, Lahad Datu, Kudat, Tawau and Sandakan.

On other developments, he said DAP Sabah registered its first Muslim Imam member. Haji Jusri Kamat was welcomed by the party in Beaufort in a simple ceremony where vice chief Edward Ewol Mujie, Beaufort DAP chief Jinlin Abd. Rahman and other branch chairmen and members were also present.

Jusri said he decided to join the DAP because he admires the party's leadership spirit and effort to help the people.

"The party has inspired a lot of people in Sabah and the people now understand that they can not depend too much on the Government but to stand up to find ways in order to survive," he said.

He hoped his action would encourage more Muslims in Sabah to join the DAP for a better future.

Dr Hiew said this showed that the DAP is gaining support from the Muslim community in Sabah.

He assured that the party would work harder in Sabah in order to achieve victory in the next general election. "Changing the present government is the only solution to the many outstanding problems in Sabah.

"If Sabahans wants to see changes, they have to work hard together," he said.

Tanpa menyatakan nama dua individu berkenaan, si ayah menurut beliau telah bertindak mengetuai Parti KeAdilan Rakyat (PKR) manakala si anaknya pula bertindak menubuhkan cawangan Parti Tindakan Demokratik (DAP) di bandar Sri Aman ini sebelumnya.

“Pihak pembangkang di sini (Sri Aman) secara tidak langsung telah mendedahkan kelemahan mereka terhadap penduduk apabila si ayah dan si anak tidak berjuang di bawah satu parti politik yang sama.

“Perjuangan politik seumpama ini kurang meyakinkan kerana mereka tidak sehaluan dan tidak akan dapat bersatu untuk memajukan hidup penduduk di seluruh kawasan Sri Aman,” katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian ketika berucap pada Majlis Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat 2009 bertempat di Rumah Maja anak Bala, Kenyungan, Batu Lintang, Sri Aman lewat petang kelmarin.

Penduduk di kawasan ini sebaliknya menurut Masir harus terus menyakini komponen parti Barisan Nasional (BN) yang sentiasa memperjuangkan hala tuju politik yang sama di antara satu sama lain.

“Salah satu matlamat utama perjuangan politik oleh komponen parti BN di sini ialah bersama-sama mempertingkatkan taraf hidup penduduk tanpa mengira usia, latar belakang etnik dan agama.

“BN masih lagi merupakan sebuah parti yang kuat dan berpegang pada prinsip perjuangan ini. Justeru adalah lebih penduduk di kawasan Sri Aman untuk menyokong BN dan bukannya menyokong perjuangan politik oleh pihak pembangkang yang tidak sehaluan di antara satu sama lain,” katanya.
