KOTA KINABALU: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail warned the Barisan Nasional (BN) government not to see Sabah as a fixed deposit.
“Every year Sabah will deliver, till it was said that Sabah is a fixed deposit and that BN can win with their eyes closed.
“If I am angry, people in Penampang are even more angry,” she said when officiating at the Keadilan Penampang Harvest Festival celebration at Megalong shopping mall here yesterday (30 Mei 2011).
She called on the people to change for the sake of the future generations.
“Sabah has been independent for four decades, but our road conditions are still poor,” she said, adding that Semporna should also fare better than its current state.
Meanwhile, PKR vice president Tian Chua stressed on equal treatment among all races and religions.
He pointed out Penampang has a special position in the country’s development because it was where the indigenous people, particularly the Kadazans, who rose and demanded for freedom from our colonizer.
“We all have the same status because it is here, Penampang, where the people led in forming our country.”
Also present were organizing chairman Terrence Siambun, PKR central leader member Dr Roland Chia, PKR communication director Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, PKR Malaysia women chief Hajjah Zuraidah Kamaruddin, PKR Penampang division chief Darell Leiking.
