SIBU: PKR Kanowit is set to take the fight to the big boys as they embark on increasing their membership to galvanise the party’s strength, disclosed its chairman Warren Aris.

Warren, at a PKR mooncake celebration in a hotel here last Sunday, also revealed that they would set up a new sub-branch at Sungei Jih.

The event was organised by PKR Lanang branch.

“We need to increase our membership and establish more sub-branches to boost our strength so that we can take the fight to BN,” Warren said.

He noted that their membership had grown to about 900 from 400 around the last state election.

Describing this as a positive development, he urged members to work closely with one another and remain steadfast to their cause.

On the celebration, he said it was an opportunity to foster closer bonds with members from various communities.

Meanwhile, Lanang branch chairman George Chen noted that various projects to benefit the people are taking shape in places such as Krian and Ba Kelalan.

Petaling Jaya South MP Hee Loy Sean who was also present said youth voters would play an important role in determining the result of the coming parliamentary election. He predicted that election might be called towards the end of this year but not later than March next year.
