Floor tiles at the Kuching International Airport between MAS and Airasia check-in counters crack up yesterday sending over 100 people at the counters and waiting area to ran out thinking that it was an earthquake.
Thomas who was flying on a domestic flight said that he heard loud cracking noises and a nearby passenger who he did not know asked if it was an earthquake. He said some women screamed and everyone rushed towards the exit door.
Check in counters stopped work for about 10 minutes and security guards who ran up to the checking point asked a few brave people who remains to go out. After more security personnel arrived, the area was cordoned off before people were allowed in.
Meanwhile, another passenger said he thought it was the roof coming down. He said it was unexplainable why the tiles crack up in the centre. “Someone said it was due to heat but we are in an aircon airport area,” he added.
