More with flu virus in Sabah hospitals

Kota Kinabalu: The number of patients positive with the Influenza A(H1N1) virus in hospitals throughout Sabah has increased to 27 as of Thursday.

In a statement, the secretariat of the Cabinet Committee on Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 said five schools remained closed including SMK Pamol, SMK Beluran and SK Tangkungon, Telupid.

Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican, advised the parents whose children showed symptoms of the flu virus not to send them to school to prevent its spread.

He reiterated that schools may not necessarily be closed if they only detected influenza-like illness among the students and teachers.

He said they ought to go home and acquire treatment immediately.
