The Health Ministry said the Federal government have not decided to take over the running of Sarawak International Medical Centre (SIMC) at Kota Samarahan, said Kuching MP, Chong Chieng Jen contrary to Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Dr George Chan, here.
Chong said Ministry said that they are looking into the problems of logistic,lack of human resources, location and the infrastruture of the hospital which was designed as a private hospital.
He said he received the answer from the Ministry of Health in Parliament on June 17 which stated that there were few problems they need to go into.
Chong said the hospital designed had no common ward but an individual or a 2-person room, it was too far from Kuching and meant to target the rich people
He said the hospital was built by SESCO from the public money costing over RM300 million. Even for medical health, the government overlooked that but instead they could do it for the rich.
“The BN government attitude on this is unacceptable,” he added. Chong said Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi George Chan owed the people an explanation for building such a hospital not for the people but for the rich.
