He said the proposed building can be a multi-storey building that also provides for ample car parks and office spaces to be rented out to legal firms.
He mooted the proposal following Nazri's announcement last week that a new court house costing about RM260 million would be built in Likas under the 10th Malaysia Plan.
"The cost to erect the building near the existing court house could be much cheaper than building a new one in Likas É it might cost just RM60 million.
"The building can be completed in two years, while we may have to wait for another 10 years for the Likas courthouse to take shape," he said, Wednesday.
He said since many cases had to be postponed due to unavailability of court rooms the solution would be not to build a new one but an annex beside the present court building.
He said if the cost is only RM60 million then the balance of the money could be used to facilitate other areas of urgent need like the hospital, agriculture projects and infrastructure development.
