TAWAU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Sri Tanjung Division here will work hard to win back the Sri Tanjung state and Tawau parliamentary seats in the next generation election.
PBS Sri Tanjung Division chairman Fung Len Fui said it was not a doomsday for the party after losing the Sri Tanjung seat in the last general election.
But it is important to realise and understand the reason for losing the state seat in order to make amends, he said.
Fung hoped the representatives of each division, especially those appointed to political posts to work hard in order to gain public confidence for PBS.
“Nowadays the people are always keeping abreast of local issues especially promises made by the politicians. If we are unable to service the people sincerely and become good leaders, surely we will also be unable to compete in the next election,” he said when speaking at PBS Sri Tanjung and Balung divisions annual general meeting at Jade Ocean Hall here yesterday morning.
Meanwhile, PBS deputy president Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai who officiated at the AGM urged Sabahans to give their full support to PBS and the government in order to bring more development to the people.
Yee said the federal government had allocated a lot of funds to develop Sabah. But he regretted the opposition parties’ negative propaganda to influence the people to go against the government.
“I am confident that PBS Sri Tanjung could win back the Sri Tanjung Assembly seat in the next election,” he added.
